This week has been so incredibly exciting! Well actually, it's been mostly painful and tiring, but there has been some incredibly fun and exciting moments, so I'll count the week as an exciting week in full!

A large part of last week was spent nannying for a family that lives down the street. I actually didn't know the family before I started nannying except that the mother and I had met in passing. A few weeks ago, while walking my dog, she caught me unawares and asked me if I would wouldn't mind watching her kids. Her nanny had vacation and the husband would be out of town for the entire week. Frozen, like a deer in headlights, I had no choice but to say yes.

It's actually a really great deal because my neighbor payed me a lot per hour. But the trade off was that I had to actually watch three children, a 15 month old, a four year old allergic to everything, and a seven year old prone to cheating in games. I have absolute faith that one day, when I'm ready, I will have children and I will love them and actually want to spend time with them. Until that day comes, however, I prefer to only be around children when I can hand them to a responsible parent as soon as they start crying. Which, if I'm around, is bound to be extremely soon. (My all time high for making a child cry was when I walked into the room and my two year old cousin immediately went into hysterics.)

Despite myself, there were a lot of good times during the week. One time, Naya (the middle girl) and I played pretend princesses and went to a ball. Another day, Shiva (the oldest) and Naya and I went to the park and played basketball. Shiva loves the Lakers, as do I, so every day I got to be treated to some Laker love.

But, all throughout the week, I didn't feel very good. I had a headache that progressed from mild to moderate to severe throughout the week. On Thursday I had to cut my day at work short because I had a fever and I didn't want to get the kids sick. I'd also had severe insomnia all week, so I couldn't really concentrate. To add to all that, I'd been getting this weird sweating that felt a lot like what I imagine hot flahses to be like.

This weekend, my family and I celebrated my graduation with a family get-together. We had Mexican food and drinks and a good time was held by all. Unfortunately, I started crashing pretty early, so by the time the last guests left, I was pretty zombie like. Sunday was a worse version of Saturday with my headache (and small catnaps) occupying the majority of the day.

On Monday, my brother invited me and my youngest brother to a taping of tv guide's watercooler. My middle brother is interning there over the summer and the show was cancelled. For their final episode, the crew was allowed to invite guests, so my brother invited us. We had a great time! Everyone involved in the show made sure to greet and welcome us, including the hosts. The special guest of the show was Richard Simmons, who also made sure to greet us and sing us a Broadway show tune. He, in fact, sang many Broadway showtunes over the course of the taping.

The rest of Monday, I gave into my headache and retreated to my couch to read and relax. Today I visited the doctor in conjunction with my craziness and told him my slightly unlikely, but still plausible, theory of early menopause. The good news is that I am in fact not undergoing early menopause. The bad news is that in fact I have mono.

Oh well, at least I have an excuse to sleep all day!
