So I pretty much failed straight off the bat, for which I have to apologize. In my defense though, my brother was in town this weekend which meant that I've had absolutely no free time. He got in Friday evening, so I spent all of Friday after class cleaning my apartment. It was pretty much a cesspool of bacteria and disease. I wouldn't at all have been surprised to find something had died in my apartment and we hadn't noticed for months. But now, my apartment is sparkly and clean! I can even walk around barefoot again......

Having my brother come and visit was a lot of fun. We saw Quantum of Solace with my friend pregnant friend Jackie and her husband. Jackie's kind of an unofficial family member, so my mom demanded that I take lots of pictures of her. About Quantum of Solace.....hmmmm....lol.

I actually did enjoy the film a lot--there was a lot more action than the first one, which wasn't necessarily a good or bad thing. But, I think that the plot for Casino Royale was much tighter than the one for Quantum of Solace. Also the chemistry between Eva Green and Daniel Craig was much much better than the chemistry between the new bond girl and James Bond. Although I definitely understand that it's really hard to compare to the back story of Vesper and Bond, but still....NO CHEMISTRY.

I also visited the wonderful Wegman's with my brother and he was suitably impressed with the awesomeness. We bought a bunch of cheeses and sushi and just stared longingly at all the big fish. I also bought my brother a bunch of the Japanese soda which he had been craving from back home.

Then we get to the crux of my story: the parties. I had a french party that my french teacher was throwing for both students and faculty. I thought it was going to be pretty lame, but I actually had a really fantastic time. I bonded with a bunch of my classmates that I only barely knew. I also happened to really bond with the daughter of my professor. She was sixteen and we were making small talk when she asked me what my favorite tv shows were. I confided that I'm totally addicted to Gossip Girl, which she squealed at. We then talked about our extreme love for Ed, how we totally wanted Nate/Vanessa because Nate/Jenny was a little weird, and how awkward the Duchess/Stepson affair was.

Yep, that's me. I get along great with teenage high schoolers X D

After the French party, I had a party for the listeners at the peer counseling campus group that I work for. It was probably the best party that I've been to all year. So incredibly fantastic. I played beer pong and almost actually won. I also got incredibly drunk, danced with people suggestively, (although not nearly as much as other people--I have pictures of grinding trains) and then kissed someone that I probably shouldn't have. All in all, an excellent evening, made only slightly awkward by the fact that my brother was there. But, the good thing about my brother is that people always love him. Everyone at the party thought that he was in fact, way cooler than me. When people came up to me and asked me who my brother was and I called my brother over, everyone was like "...THIS IS YOUR BROTHER? He's so cool!" lol

Anyways, my weekend was a lot of fun. I've also been reseaching Thanksgiving recipes because this year our theme is Asian Fusion. Every year my dad picks a theme and we do traditional dishes as well as that theme inspired dishes. Last year we did southwestern cuisine and the year before it was the midwest.

A couple of my favorite so far are Wasabi mashed potatoes and miso-ginger marinated grilled salmon. What is everyone else's plans for thanksgiving?

Brief post about things I'm excited about

1. Going to see a play Thursday night: the student written play will be performing this weekend, so I'm going to drag a friend with me to go see this play. It looks really cute and adorable, and is written by one of my friends.

2. Going to D.C. for lunch on Friday. I'm going to visit my friend in D.C. for the day because I don't have any classes (I love Fridays!) and it'll be nice to hang out and catch up.

3. New episode of Hanadan. 'nuff said.

4. Free movie and food on Friday. One of the campus groups puts on Friday night films for free. In the same place, after the movie, another campus group has coffee and doughnuts if people want to just hang out. Maybe we'll play settlers!

5. Free food on Saturday! They're having a free breakfast in my dorm on Saturday morning from 11-1. In case it wasn't apparent, I love free food. With a passion.

6. 80's Dance party! Saturday night, they're having an 80's Dance Party. I think someone mentioned that there's going to be huge screens with music videos and crazy lights. I might just die from happiness.
Another Christmas has come and gone. This year was a bit more low key than usual, but I enjoyed it immensely. There's something just really relaxing about hanging out with friends and not stressing. I guess it's the contrast between finals and home life!

Anyways, my mother and I almost went crazy trying to make these butterscotch sticky buns. It took four times before we got them right, but when she got them right...they were amazing!

So, I'm posting the fruits of our labors:

Anyways, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!
