Edit:     WOULD LOVE PLZ. AM WHORE.

Alright, I've been meaning to update my journal for so long, actually since well the 9th of July. And it's what? The 31st? *facepalm*

To start off, I'm back in the United States now, because my program in France ended on the 13th. I stayed for Bastille Day and Sunday, and left on Monday. I am glad to be back home, because I missed everyone like mad, but I get the incredibly strong cravings for real French baguettes. I cry just a little every time I see a baguette in the US. They're just not the same. Before I left France though, a lot of really awesome stuff happened.

I went to the Japan Convention outside of Paris! This was my first convention ever, and I guess, in a way, it made up for not being able to go to the Anime Expo in Long Beach with my friends. Sadly, the reason behind going to the convention was the picture of Princess, but I had a great time. I was still debating whether or not to go on Saturday. But I decided that if I finished the Paris Catacombs before 12, that would give me enough time and I would take the RER train to Convention Center outside of Paris.

The catacombs were amazing. I'll be the first to admit, I have a slightly morbid interest in things like graveyards, but the catacombs just seemed amazing. If I remember correctly, about 12 million people's bones rest in the catacombs. Also, they were the home of the French Resistance during World War II, although you can't actually see where the resistance is headed. It took me about an hour and a half to make my way through the section of the catacombs open to the public, and I walked at a normal pace.

Along the walls, they have these slightly scary quotes about death. Like, "Death is the final victor." Or "We were what you are, We are what you will become." Always happy and reassuring.

After the catacombs, I took the RER up to Exposition Parc. It was a little less than an hour, but once the train got outside the city, the country side looked absolutely gorgeous. Once I got to Exposition Parc, however,  I had to contend with a line to buy tickets. In my naivete, I had thought the line would be at most a half an hour, and at a first glance, it didn't seem too long at all.

But after ten minutes of not moving, and then peeking ahead and realizing that my line was part of a much bigger line, I figured that it would be at least an hour. Since I was going to be in line for so long, I decided that I should try to make friends with the people in line near me, because I was going to be in line for a very long time. It would be a good opportunity to practice french. Right behind me where these two guys who looked about my age. It took me a couple tries in my awkward french, but eventually we started talking. It was all of our first times at a convention, so none of us knew what to expect.

We ended up getting along FABULOUSLY. And they were so cute. They adopted me for the day because I was by myself and made sure I didn't get lost. We took samurai lessons and learned how to write our name in kanji. It was pretty awesome.

It was my first time at a convention, and I was a little overwhelmed. There was a lot going on. I got a couple of french mangas and some posters for friends. We saw french karaoke of Kyo. Which was interesting. I've never seen video game karaoke before.

Bastille Day ended up going amazingly well. I watched the fireworks, had lots of desperados and ate at least three crepes. Yeah for eating my way through France! I also met some random people at the Eiffel tower and hung out with them all day. It was pretty awesome.

I want to post more about coming back home, but I'm tired and lame. Suffice it to say that I went to the comic convention with my younger brother and a family friend. Had a great time. Lots of pictures. If only i could hook up my camera to my computer. Which is dying. As well. X D

Anyways, I'm sorry for not commenting on people's journals in forever. I promise that I will catch up this week! Clearly LJ just never stops for a break.
